Site FAQ & Help

What is this site about?

Foundationyears.org is an unofficial guide to the Foundation Programme. It has been developed to provide current and future trainees with unbiased information about careers in Medicine. With the introduction of Modernising Medical Careers, there has been a radical overhaul in the training of junior doctors. The changes implemented by MMC have affected a great number of trainees, with rather mixed results. Like it or not, at least some of the changes introduced are here to stay. It is therefore upto trainees to ensure that they fully understand the system and are able to maximise their chances of getting the jobs that they want.

This site neither intends to support nor condemn the Foundation Programme - it is designed to be a neutral information resource, with any opinions expressed being the views of either the developers of the Programme, or the students and trainees that will be the end-users. This site relies upon its users to develop; we need your contributions to ensure that the views, particularly of Foundation Year Trainees are accurately reflected. We therefore very much welcome user contributions. To submit any material to us, please use the 'contact us' link. Thank you.

Who is this site for?

Foundationyears.org is aimed at medical students and current Foundation Year doctors. It may also be of use to other people that have other roles in the Foundation Programme (for example, assessors such as Consultants, Specialist Registrars, General Practitioners, and nurses).

Who is developing this site?

This website is being developed by three junior doctors (Dr Sasha Abraham, Dr Kunal Kulkarni & Dr Alex Rothman) in conjunction with Professor John Lumley and Westminster Publishing Ltd.
