Direct Observation of Procedural Skills
This tool is designed to provide feedback on a trainee's ability to perform a selection of 'essential' procedural skills. The trainee picks the procedure
and the 'observer' and can chose when in the year to get this signed off.
No. per year:
4-6 (different procedure & observer for each one)
Who can assess?
Experienced SpRs, staff grades, appropriate nursing staff or consultants in a secondary care setting, or the GP trainer, appropriate
nurses or other GPs in a primary care setting.
How long does it take?
About 20 minutes each (15 mins for the assessment / 5 mins for feedback)
